Choosing A Predator Reel

For lure work, a 2500 to 4000 size with a smooth drag and a quick retrieve covers most of it and keeps the outfit light enough to fish all day. Deadbaiting at range wants something larger with more line capacity and a decent free spool so a taking fish doesn’t pull your rod in. Catfish gear is a different conversation again. Whatever you’re using, set the clutch before you cast and check it now and then, because a predator’s first run is when it matters.
