Braid Or Mono For Predators

Braid has a real edge for lure fishing — no stretch means you feel every knock and set hooks properly at distance. For deadbaiting, plenty of people still prefer mono for the bit of give it offers when a fish lunges at the net. Either way, you need a wire trace between your line and the hooks where pike are about, and it’s worth checking the last few yards of your mainline for wear after fishing over gravel or snags. Around 30lb braid or 15lb mono suits most general predator fishing here, heavier if you’re near serious snags.
