Tackling Up For Cats

Everything about catfishing is about strength and about looking after the fish. Heavy braided or thick mono hooklinks, strong wide-gape hooks, and a rod with real backbone, because these fish don’t give up and they’ll find every snag in the lake. Just as important is the landing and unhooking end: a large mat or cradle, gloves for handling, and antiseptic for any hook marks. Fish them at night in summer for the best of it, and take a mate along — landing a big cat on your own is a job and a half.
