Why The Trace Matters

A wire trace isn’t optional when pike are a possibility, even if you’re targeting something else — a bitten-off lure or a fish swimming away with hooks in it is the outcome nobody wants. Check traces after every fish and bin any that are kinked, because they fail at the kink. Bait needles and flags make mounting a deadbait quick and tidy so it sits properly and doesn’t spin on the cast. If you’re making up your own traces, come in and we’ll show you what we use.
