Choosing The Right Lure Rod

Casting weight is the number to look at first. A rod rated well above the lures you actually use will feel dead and you’ll lose the fun of the fight, and one rated too light won’t let you cast properly or set a hook at range. Most bass anglers around here are well served somewhere in the 7–35g bracket, while lrf sits far lighter. Length is worth a thought too — a longer rod helps you keep line clear of the rocks and gain a bit of distance, a shorter one is easier to work a lure with all day.
