The Tools Worth Having

A disgorger and a pair of forceps should be attached to you rather than buried in the bag — hooks come out cleanly and fish go back quickly, which is the whole idea. Sharp scissors for cutting hooklengths give you a clean end and better knots. A plummet takes ten seconds and tells you exactly what’s under your float, and skipping it is probably the single most common reason people struggle on a new peg. Keep a spare disgorger in the box, because they go missing more than anything else in fishing.
