Dropshot rigs, weights, hooks and soft plastics for freshwater predator fishing. It’s a brilliantly simple way to fish for perch, zander and pike on the rivers and stillwaters, and it works when everything else has gone quiet.

Perch On The Dropshot

The whole point of dropshot is that your lure stays at the depth you choose for as long as you like, sat just above the weight and wriggling on the spot. That’s deadly for perch around structure — boat moorings, lock gates, bridge supports, marginal snags — where you can drop straight down and work a small lure in front of a fish rather than casting past it. Light rods, thin braid and a fluorocarbon leader make for a really enjoyable way to fish, and you’ll find out quickly how many perch are sat in places you’d walked past for years.
