Weighing A Good Fish

Zero the scales with the wet sling attached so you’re weighing the fish and not your kit, and do the whole thing over the mat rather than over hard ground. Get the fish weighed, photographed and back in the water quickly — the weight is the least important part of the capture. Dial scales are tough and need no batteries, digital ones are easier to read in the dark and usually more precise. Either way, check yours against a known weight occasionally so you can trust what it tells you.
