Getting The Kit To The Swim

Carp gear adds up fast — bedchair, bivvy, two or three rods, bait, cooking kit — and a barrow turns that into a single manageable load. Look at the wheel first: a wide pneumatic tyre copes with mud, grass and gravel tracks, where a narrow hard wheel digs in and fights you. Load heavy items low and strap it properly, especially on uneven paths. Hose the frame and bearings down after a winter session and it’ll last for years rather than seizing up by spring.
