Weighing On A Moving Deck

Weighing on a moving boat is never precise, so take the reading when the boat is steadiest and do it over the deck rather than over the side. Keep the fish supported in a sling instead of hanging it by the jaw, especially with bigger fish. Rinse and dry your scales afterwards, since salt spray finds its way into the mechanism quickly, and keep them in a dry bag or box between trips.
