Working A Lure Over A Wreck

Wreck fishing with soft plastics is about as good as it gets — drop to the bottom, wind up through the wreck and hold on, because pollack in particular hit on the way up and dive hard the moment they feel the hook. Heavier pirks and jigs come into their own in deep water and strong tide where a light lure never reaches the fish. Match the weight to the depth and the drift, and carry spares: anything fished over a wreck gets lost eventually, and it’s usually the one that’s been catching.
